420 West Grand - Chicago, Illinois

420 West Grand is a brick and limestone structure converted to residential use. Openings on the lower floors are supported by large stone lintels, however, the top floor openings supported the parapet using large I-beams as lintels.  Deterioration of the steel required removal and reconstruction of the parapet. Reinforced cast stone lintels were used in place of I-beam, to match the architectural character of the lower floors. Tuckpointing, chemical cleaning, and interior shoring were also part of this project.
