Edgewater

The Edgewater Beach Apartments at 5555 N. Sheridan road was built in 1927 by Benjamin H. Marshall. In 1999 Mid/America was hired to perform the exterior renovation of the building.  the work is divided up into four phases and includes: asbestos abatement, structural clay tile and lintel replacement, corner quion rebuilding, recoating of the pink field as well as parapet and cornice repair.

The Whitehall Hotel  -  105 East Delaware, Chicago, IL

The Whitehall Hotel had extensive deterioration of the brick and Terra Cotta facade. Mid/America was contracted to replace 1900 linear feet of shelf angle and lintels, along with 25,000 brick.  The entire facade was tuckpointed and recaulked.

The Democratic Convention schedule required completion within 90 days. Mid/America is currently under contract to restore the balance of the building under a multi year program.

Barclay Condominiums - Lincolnwood, Illinois

The Barclay Condominiums experienced water infiltration problems as a result of material and methods used in the original construction.

Less than ten years old, Mid/America replaced all of the mortar joints, and applied a water repellent at a cost of more than one million dollars.

First United Methodist Church -  Ottawa, Illinois

This brick and limestone structure dates to the 1890's.  Early this century a simulated stone finish made of cement plaster, was applied to the brick. Removal of the cement plaster revealed that the brick was damaged beyond repair. Mid/America removed the damaged outer wythe of brick on the entire facade. Using historic photographs and dimensions of the inner wythe, the facade was reconstructed to match the original.

Hills of Palos Condominiums - Palos Hills, Illinois

The complete replacement of the masonry facade at the Hills of Palos Condominiums required shoring of existing precast concrete balconies. The project also called for the replacement of approximately 70,000 utility brick, the repouring of all concrete chimney caps and application of water repellent.
